OPERATIONS  
   
MAPT annually procures about 2.3 million metric tons of paddy through procurement depots which are strategically deployed in the paddy producing areas. Such amount of paddy are processed in rice mills owned by MAPT and private. For domestic distribution of rice, the volume of rice stock of more than 55,000 tons has been processed monthly and such stocks are transported to various parts of the country for distribution of rice to target groups and institutions. During 1999/2000, internal sales amounted to 840,250 tons of rice and rice products.

MAPT is also engaged in procurement of pulses, beans, maize and other agricultural produce locally in parallel with private sector and after processing, the finished products are exported. In 1999/2000, MAPT locally procured pulses, beans, sesame and maize of 49,429 tons



amounting 9.3 million kyats and about 48,058 tons of such agricultural products were exported.

The annual total business turn over of MAPT is about 52,000 million kyats.
