In accord with
Article 443 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar which
states that the State Peace and Development Council is to carry out the
preparatory work before the Constitution comes into operation, to bring the
Constitution into operation, and as prescribed in the Article 49 of the
Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar:
(a) Sagaing
Division is designated as Sagaing Region
(b) Taninthayi
Division is designated as Taninthayi Region
(c) Bago
Division is designated as Bago Region
(d) Magway
Division is designated as Magway Region
(e) Mandalay
Division is designated as Mandalay Region
(f) Yangon
Division is designated as Yangon Region
(g) Ayeyawady
Division is designated as Ayeyawady Region.

1. Article 284
of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar states the
provisions for the administration of Nay Pyi Taw, which is the Union Territory.
2. In accord
with the Article 443 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
which states that the State Peace and Development Council is to carry out the
preparatory work before the Constitution comes into operation, to bring the
Constitution into operation, the following district and townships have been
designated as the Union Territory-

Delineation of Self-Administered Division and Self-Administered
Zones and their seats of government
1. According to
Article 56 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar the
Self-Administered Division and Self-Administered Zones are delineated as
follows:-
(a) Grouping six
townships-Hopang, Mongmao, Panwaing, Narphant, Metmang and Pangsang (Pangkham)
townships-in Shan State as the‘Wa’ Self-Administered Division;
(b) Grouping
Leshi, Lahe and Nanyun townships in Sagaing Division as Naga Self-Administered
Zone;
(c) Grouping
Ywangan and Pindaya townships in Shan State as Danu Self-Administered Zone;
(d) Grouping
HoPong, HsiHseng and Pinlaung townships in Shan State as Pa- O Self-Administered
Zone;
(e) Grouping
Namhsan and Mantung townships in Shan State as Pa Laung Self-Administered Zone;
(f) Grouping
Kongyan and Laukkai townships in Shan State as Kokang Self- Administered Zone.
2. In accord
with the Article 443 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar
which states that the State Peace and Development Council is to carry out the
preparatory work before the Constitution comes into operation, to bring the
Constitution into operation, the Self-Administered Division and
Self-Administered Zones are delineated as mentioned in the Paragraph (1) and the
seats of the Self-Administered Division and Self-Administered Zones are
designated as follows:-
(a) Hopang for
‘Wa’ Self-Administered Division;
(b) Lahe for
Naga Self-Administered Zone;
(c) Pindaya for
Danu Self-Administered Zone;
(d) HoPong, for
Pa-O Self-Administered Zone;
(e) Namhsan for
Pa Laung Self-Administered Zone;
(f) Laukkai for
Kokang Self-Administered Zone.

Banknotes
exchangeable at MEBs
YANGON, 20
Aug-Ragged banknotes ranging from K 10 to K 200 can now be exchanged with new
ones. Banknote exchange counter of Central Bank of Myanmar at No 198/199, corner
of Bo Sun Pak Street and Strand Road and branches of Myanma Economic Bank have
been offering banknote-exchange service since 3 August on condition that the
ragged are in line with prescribed condition.
Central Bank of
Myanmar weekly distributes banknotes of little value to All Bus Lines
Supervisory Committees and Markets Departments of Development Affairs Committees
in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.

Political
parties submit lists of members to UEC
NAY PYI TAW, 20
Aug-Political parties are to submit the lists of their members organized in line
with Political Parties Registration Rule 13 (a) to the Union Election Commission
within 90 days as from the date they have been granted permission to register.
The United
Democratic Party (UDP), the Union of Myanmar Federation of National Politics and
the 88 Generation Student Youths (Union of Myanmar) submitted the lists of their
members to the UEC today.
Up to date, 22
of 41 parties that have been granted permission to register as political parties
have already submitted member lists of their parties to the UEC within the
prescribed date.

Dokhtawady
rises to 872 cm
NAY PYI TAW, 20
Aug-According to observations recorded at 12:30 hrs today, water level of
Dokhtawady River has reached 872 centimeters in Myitnge and it will continue to
exist above 870 centimeters, the dangerous water level of that town from this
afternoon to coming 24 hours, Meteorology and Hydrology Department announced.

Warning of
high tide
YANGON, 20
Aug-The Myanma Port Authority issued a warning today that exceptionally high
spring of from 20.0 feet to 20.2 feet high above the datum are expected to occur
in Yangon River during the period between 25th and 29th August 2010. It is not
serious because the high tide have reached up to 21.9 feet high above datum in
the year 2008 and 2009, and that the warning is issued only because high tide
reaches over 20 feet high above datum.

Myanmar
Academy of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Fishery Sciences holds 8th
Annual General Meeting

Aug-The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation organized the 8th Annual General
Meeting of Myanmar Academy of Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock and Fishery
Sciences at the ministry, here, this morning.
Speaking on the
occasion, Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation U Htay Oo said that
productions of the agriculture, forestry and livestock breeding and fishery
sectors occupy 42 per cent of GDP.
Myanmar has over
33 million acres of net farmlands out of 44 million acres of cultivable lands.
Of them, various kinds of crops including double and mixed cropping are grown on
57 million acres of lands.
Looking forwards
to penetrating into the world market, Myanmar has adopted the plan and is
undertaking cultivation of quality rice and paddy, beans and pulses and long
staple cotton Ngwechi-6.
Arrangements are
being made to boost production of quality and high yield crops in addition to
extending the sown acreage in the agriculture sector.
Moreover, the
organic cultivation system is reliable for food safety and environmental
conservation. The Nano technology can improve gene, use inputs and fertilizer
and detect pests and it can be used in livestock breeding and veterinary and
systematic packaging system.
The Ministry of
Forestry is carrying out conservation of forest reserves, establishment of
national parks, wildlife parks and forest management for protection for
depletion of bio-diversity. He urged those present to study developing
technology and conducting research on deforestation and improving ecosystem.
In the livestock
breeding sector, it is necessary to emphasize production of quality pedigrees,
development of livestock breeding technology and conservation of marine
resources. He stressed the need for the local farmers to carry out livestock
breeding tasks on a manageable scale. Modern technology is to be provided to the
local farmers to be able to undertake livestock breeding tasks on a commercial
scale.
In conclusion,
the minister urged the scholars of the academy to strive for enhancing science
and technology, developing human resources and utilizing their expertise so as
to serve the national interest.
The 8th Annual
General Meeting followed at the hall of the ministry, with an address by
President of the academy Dr Myint Thein.
The
paper-reading sessions were held at the designated places in Nay Pyi Taw Yezin.
The
paper-reading sessions will continue at the Ministry of Agriculture and
Irrigation tomorrow.
In the evening,
the Ministry of Forestry hosted a dinner to the scholars at the hall of
University of Forestry in Nay Pyi Taw Yezin.

Appointment
of Japanese Ambassador agreed on
NAY PYI TAW, 21
Aug-The Government of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the appointment of Mr.
Takashi Saito as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the
Union of Myanmar.
Mr. Takashi
Saito was born on 12 April 1949. He graduated from Tokyo University in March
1974.
He joined the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in April 1974 and served in various
capacities at the Ministry up to 1992. He had also served in various capacities
at the Japanese Embassies in France, Germany, Thailand, Canada and
Consulate-General in Hong Kong from 1992 to 2002. He served as Executive
Director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) from 2004 to 2006.
Since December 2006, he has been serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of Japan to Senegal.
Mr. Takashi
Saito is married and has two daughters.

Second
draft of Myanmar human rights report discussed

NAY PYI TAW, 20
Aug-The 14th coordination meeting for compilation of Human Rights of Myanmar was
held at the hall of General Administration Department (Head Office) under the
Ministry of Home Affairs, here, yesterday afternoon.
In his address,
Member of Myanmar Committee of the Human Rights Deputy Attorney-General Dr Tun
Shin said that according to the regular assessment on human rights of the global
countries, today’s meeting was to review the second draft on Human Rights of
Myanmar compiled by Myanmar Human Rights Report Compilation Work Committee to be
submitted to UN Human Rights Council. If it is complete, the second draft will
be submitted to the Myanmar Human Right Report Compilation Work Committee.
Those present
discussed the second draft report.
Later, the
meeting came to an end with the concluding remarks by Deputy Attorney-General Dr
Tun Shin.

Researches
done on fine arts

NAY PYI TAW, 20
Aug-Ministry of Culture organized a paper reading session on fine arts at the
ministry here this afternoon, with an address by Vice- Chairman of Myanmar
National Culture Committee Minister for Culture U Khin Aung Myint.
Resource persons
read out papers on Myanmar puppets, Myanmar orchestra, dances of Myanma
traditional plays and plot creation and answered quires raised by those present.
The minister
assessed the papers. Also present were Members of Myanmar Language Commission U
Myint Kyi and Dr Khin Aye (Maung Khin Min- Danubyu), Member of Myanmar
Historical Commission U Chit San Win, puppeteer U Ye Dwe of Myanma Thabin
Asiayon, directors-general from Ministry of Culture, rectors, guests from
ministries, researchers and enthusiasts.

of Kayah State Election Subcommission inspects sites for polling stations

Aug-Secretary U Khin Maung Yi of Kayah State Election Subcommission together
with the chairman and members of Loikaw Township Election Subcommission and
members of Ward/Village Election Subcommissions, polling booth officers, deputy
polling booth officers and members of polling stations today inspected the sites
for construction of polling stations and sample polling stations in Naungya (A)
Ward, Naungya (B) Ward and DawUkhu Ward in Loikaw Township.
